How do we approach Spiritual Direction?
Spiritual Direction is an ancient term used to describe the conversation one believer has with another about life in the light of faith. We believe that it is in our ordinary human experience that God reveals Godself.
The help one person gives to another in the ministry of spiritual direction can be invaluable in enabling the other to notice this action of God: to stop, look and listen to how God is moving in their hearts and active in their lives. As a person responds with greater awareness to this personally communicating God, so does intimacy develop as well as the capacity to live out with greater freedom the consequences of the relationship. The focus of this kind of spiritual direction practised by members of CFMA is clearly on experience rather than ideas, and especially that dimension of experience that evokes the presence of the mysterious Other whom we call God.
