Our speaker for this breakfast is the Very Reverend Dr Peter Catt, the dean of St John’s Anglican Cathedral (Brisbane). Dr Catt made national headlines earlier this year when he declared the Cathedral as sanctuary for any asylum seekers, rekindling an ancient tradition. This was in response to the threat by the Australian Government to send refugees to offshore detention centres . This led to churches around the nation following suit, and creating a flashpoint between the Government and the churches (see article here for further information).
Due to the special interest of our guest speaker, this breakfast is open to both men and women and we encourage you to invite your friends to join you. Dr Catt is an engaging and informative speaker with a heart for healthy dialogue, and an inclusive spirituality that expresses a heart for social justice.
The breakfast will commence at 7am, with a light breakfast served from 7.30, followed by Dr Catt’s talk. The cost is $15 to cover venue hire and catering. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Thursday 27th October to confirm your attendance and assure you are catered for.
