As you may be aware, Christmas is an especially difficult time for men who are isolated from their communities. This isolation can occur through separation or divorce, where fathers do not have access to their children. it also occurs with men who are struggling with the consequences of addiction, who have faced unemployment and do not have sufficient funds to provide for their families at Christmas. The month between mid December and Mid January has the highest suicide rate for men in Australia. Men are already three times more likely to end their lives than women, especially men aged 40-55. The reality of facing new year when in pain can offer little hope for men in difficult situations.
This appeal is to provide funding for up to 80% of the cost of face to face counselling for men in crisis. Our experience is that men need face to face contact to offset their experience of loneliness and arrest destructive thinking patterns. Centre For Men and Families reaches men in this key demographic.

Please, also share this appeal on social media. How can your money help?
$520 is enough for 5 hours of heavily subsidised counselling and overheads.
$1040 is enough for 10 hours.
Let’s see if we can together raise enough money for 20 hours at $2080 by mid-January 2019!
